Nigeria's Federal Character laws should be amended - Gbajabiamila.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has called for a review of extant federal character laws.

He spoke on Saturday in Abuja at the Young Parliamentarians Forum National Strategy Meeting and Retreat.

Gbaja said as presently defined in the constitution, the federal character is at variance with the nation’s realities as it limits opportunities to geographical location.

The lawmaker said the existing provisions did not consider gender, persons living with disabilities and age classification.

He urged young legislators to chart a course that would push the youths to take the mantle of leadership at all levels of government.

President Trump reacts as US Forces rescue American in Nigeria.

US president, Donald Trump, has hailed the “courageous soldiers” who rescued an American hostage in Nigeria on Saturday.

Philip Walton, 27, was seized by armed bandits on Monday, October 26.

Walton was moved to a location in northern Nigeria where he was held.

The Pentagon has confirmed that the operation was executed on Saturday.

Trump tweeted: “Last night, our country’s brave warriors rescued an American hostage in Nigeria.

“Our Nation salutes the courageous soldiers behind the daring nighttime rescue operation and celebrates the safe return of yet another American citizen!”

‘An IGP wept, another destroyed his phone over interference by politicians’.

Inspector-General of Police cried out of frustration over the problems of the Nigeria Police Force, while another threw his phone at the wall out of anger at the constant interference by politicians.

These were some revelations by retired Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ojukwu, who served as the police imagemaker at the Force headquarters, Abuja, under five Inspectors-General of Police.

Speaking during an interview with Vanguard, he said serving as Force PRO under five IGP gave him an insight into the problems bedeviling the Police.

According to Emmanuel Ojukwu, the issues with the Force makes it “kill its best”.

Ojukwu said: “I have seen an Inspector-General of Police weep over the problems of Nigerian police. I have seen another Inspector-General of Police display temper, anger by throwing away his phone over persistent calls and disturbance from the National Assembly.

“When the head is frustrated, the system is frustrated.
